The Salt Spray Test is to determine the suitability of the paint finishes on our luminaires. We undertake an accelerated corrosion test. The samples are scratched until the bare metal is exposed and scored. The samples are exposed to a 5% sodium chloride solution. The pH value of the solution is between 6.5 to 7.2. The exposure ambient of the chamber is maintained at a temperature of 35°C.

The samples are inspected after 240, 480, 720, and 1000 hours of exposure.

When the sample has to be inspected, the sample is removed from the cabinet and allowed to dry. We then look for blisters, creep, rust, pits, and cracks. Adhesive tape is applied to the scratched area and removed, and the paint adhesion results are compared to the table in ASTM D3359-23.
