Conducted using a nickel-chromium glow-wire heated to either 650°C or 850°C, the test follows the protocol outlined in IEC 60695-2-11. During the test, the heated glow-wire’s tip is applied to the sample’s surface for 30 seconds before withdrawal. Any flame or glowing from the sample must self extinguish within 30 seconds of removal of the glow wire, according to the BS EN 60598-1 standard.
Any burning or molten droplets must not ignite a piece of tissue paper placed under the sample, as specified in standard IEC 60695-2-11.
